Meet the Band
Paul is extremely passionate about musical collaboration and functioning as the “Time Lord” for the groups in which he plays. He brings over 40 years of solid drumming experience to The Killer Vibes. With musical roots originating with violin and piano lessons in his early years, it was drums and percussion that truly “clicked” with him, and that focus has remained in play ever since. Paul was heavily influenced by the progressive rock and classic rock movements, but his playing spans a variety of styles, making him a versatile drummer. In addition to a strong musical background, Paul also has a strong passion for the visual arts and project management, and has more than 15 years’ experience working in the video game industry as an art director. He also runs his own graphics design company, and has for more than 20 years, to date.
Abi became passionate of bass sound after listening to funky groovy lines from the 70’s. She is a world traveler and has performed in various countries. Her bass technique was enhanced through training from renowned local bassists in Barcelona (Spain) and Natal (Brazil). You will always find a welcoming attitude from Abi as she grooves her bass lines.
Steve loves to play guitar and sing. His passion transforms every show in a unique experience as he engages with the audience vibe and thrives off energy and comradery in every live band performances. Steve is influenced by 70’s and 80’s rock bands and new wave music. In his spare time, he likes to watch Korean Dramas, and plans his vacations around which restaurants to visit.
Star is a mix of powerhouse and nuanced vocals. She sings with her own stylized fusion of warm and milky tones, a confident and controlled belt, and smooth bold high notes. Her vocal fluidity, purity of tone, and unhampered agility in all registers makes her love of all musical genres from opera to rock come to life on stage. Attracted to the standards and classical music growing up, Star’s musical interests were sparked with female singers such as Tori Amos, Cheril Crow, and Whitney Houston. Her interests in powerful musical women shaped Star’s ability to push the limits of her own vocal boundaries.
